Welcome to Cessnock Motorcycle Club and the world of off road motorcycling.
Cessnock Motorcycle Club would like to encourage all prospective members and their families to come and join the Hunter Valley’s leading off road motorcycle club and to participate in our many events that the club hosts throughout the year.
Our club provides a safe environment for junior members and novice riders to increase their skill level in a relaxed, encouraging and enjoyable atmosphere with guidance from the coaches within our club. For our competitive members the club hosts plenty of events throughout the year such as enduro’s, enduro sprints, motocross, grass track, trials and dirt track where the opportunity exists to compete for championship points and become the club champion or simply bang bars with your mates.
All of our events are held in accordance with our sport’s governing bodies Motorcycling New South Wales and Motorcycling Australia which ensures the safety of our club members and spectators. Our club also supports its members with Cessnock Motorcycle Club teams competing in such events as the Australian Four Day Enduro and the 24hr Reliability Trial in South Australia.
The strength of Cessnock Motorcycle Club comes from a very supportive and passionate member base which promotes our sport as being community based and family orientated and our club is continually on the lookout for new members. If you would like to become a member please follow this link (REGISTER) and fill out the online membership form. Our club’s annual membership costs are one of the cheapest in the Valley at only $30 for a single membership or $50 for a family.
Our club is continually keeping its members up to date about the clubs events, activities and news via club emails, web site updates and our Facebook page. If you would like to receive our club emails please click email and please visit and like our Facebook page.
Your Club Needs Some Love!!
Throughout the year our club hosts many great events for every member to participate in, but these events don’t spring up out of nowhere. Every person you see at an event whether they are waving a flag, scrutineering your bike, recording your score, performing race secretary or race steward duties, the people who have spent countless hours preparing tracks and even the BBQ master chef that is tossing the snags, these people are all volunteers and are donating their time so the event can run successfully and you can enjoy your day of riding. And we can’t forget all of the volunteer work in the planning of the events where working bees are conducted, event permits and officials are organised and all the other tasks that are juggled into place.
What you can do to help
Club Meetings
The club holds a general meeting on the first Tuesday of every month, 7pm at the Khartoum Hotel, Kitchener. You don’t have to be a member to come along and contribute to the club, everyone is welcome to attend. Our AGM is also held at the Khartoum Hotel in November.
Working Bees
Our working bees are usually held on the Saturday before the event for tracks that are easy to set up and for larger events the working bees are conducted over several weekends prior to the event taking place. Duties usually include setting out, preparing and marking the tracks, organising pit areas and preparing facilities. Many hands make light work at working bees and they generally turn out to be a lot of fun with a get together at the end for well earned “refreshments”.
Race Day Volunteers
When it comes to race day there are many volunteers required to make the day run smoothly and for everyone to enjoy the ride. At each event we need around 10 marshals, a race secretary, a race steward, a scrutineer, a clerk of course, sweep riders, scorers, caterers, track workers, the list just goes on!
Race Officials Needed
The following officials are the minimum required at every club level event;
Race Secretary, Race Steward, Scrutineer and Clerk of Course.
And if we are holding a state or national level event the above people need to be accredited to a higher level and people with these accreditations are even harder to find. Without these vital officials, we don’t race.
So who wants to become an official?
Becoming an official is easy! The first step to becoming an official consists of completing an online General Seminar that can be completed anywhere at any time. Once you have completed the seminar and assessment which requires a pass mark of 75%, all you need to do is submit an Officials application form to Motorcycling NSW who will send you an Officials License.
Once you receive your Officials license, it allows you to officiate at club level events as an Operational Official. An Operational Official includes a Flag Marshal, Timekeeper, Judges, Observer, Handicappers, Starters, Communicator, Announcer etc. Once you have attained an Operational Officials License you can then proceed onto becoming accredited as a key official such as Race Steward, Race Secretary, Scrutineer or Clerk of Course. To become one of the above mentioned Officials you will need to attend the applicable seminar. The 2014 Officials Seminar Calendar is listed below
